Any usable parts APC SmartUPS 1000

Have a bunch of older APC Smart UPS 1000 rack mount units that aren't going to be used. Most have reported failed batteries, so I'm guessing they're good otherwise. I'm planning to scavenge parts for tinkering. I'm planning to eventually build an inverter, and didn't know if the transformer would be worth grabbing along with heat sinks, etc.

The question of what NOT to keep only arises when your partner complains about the overflow from the garage into some other seldom used part of the house that they have suddenly decided to "put to good use".

I'm making that assumption. The units are over 10 years old. They will not be put into service again, so I'm cannibalizing them.

To tell the truth, I'd be trying to get them going before I scrapped them. They're likely to be more valuable working.

I have to agree with Steve, with a single known good battery you could run these through a charge/discharge cycle and likely verify if they work and sell them as such less the battery...
