Adjustable voltage and current device.

Hi all, I'm sure you can tell from the title that I'm a complete novice with electronics.

My interest lies in LEDs and what I would like to build if possible is a device which I can connect a 12v battery to and then adjust the output voltage between 3.7v -12v and adjust the output current from 300ma - 3000ma.

Ideally I would like to incorporate a digital display screen to give accurate readings of the output voltage and current.

Does such a thing exist already or would I have to buy the individual components and build it myself?

I was just going to suggest a PSU but you mentioned a battery as your power source.

Hi Adam, yeah I just assumed that's what I would need. I never though about a pre-made device that could plug into the mains.
