ademco vista 20p setup

T

teknot

I am installing and programing a vista 20p for the first time.
I have a 6160v and a 6150rf. There are 10 hardwires (ZD) plus a smoke zone
that I have sucessfully programmed. I want to use 2 5816 transmitters, 2
5804 keyfobs and a 5804bd.
I have done all the data programming and the hardwire zone programming as
well as set the 6160v to address 16 and the 6150rf to address 17.
Thats where things get blurry. I'm not sure whether I'm supposed to program
the transmitters using the 6160v keypad(to the panel using the *56 menu) or
the 6150rf.I think I'm supposed to program them to the panel, but should I
get the 6150rf operational first?
Reading the 6150rf instruction manual I don't understand whether to :
Program wireless keys as local or system; Program RF reciever enable or
disable; and house ID as system or local.
If somebody with experience can help me out, I would appreciate it.

6150RF has the built in 16 zone reciever..and yes it needs to be in the
system and programmed for it to see the zones.

Keep in mind the 5804's are going to eat-up zones as well.

And if I remember correctly you don't need to setup the house code.
I "think" the 5804BD is programmed as; system, but the 5804's are local '
cause they're not supervised but the BD is. Someone will have to double
check me on this as it's been a few months since I've done a 20P (and they
always seem to kick my butt when I do ;-)

The BD is not supervised

| Program the 5816s to the panel (*56) using the 6160. No idea on the 6150.
| Sorry.

If you set the 6150rf keypad address to 17 and enabled address 17
keypad in 1*90 , then the 6150rf is ready to go. Now use the 6160v
to program the *56 zone programing. Start the first rf zone at zone 9
and up. Use either zones 49 and up for the 5804's ( which will use up
some zones, or go to the 6150rf in local mode to enter them there. If
your not using a bunch of wireless zones use the *56 mode, it will
allow for more options in selecting the zone type for each button. It
does use up zones but if you have plenty I like using it that way.
Don't forget to first assign a user # and user code to the keyfob or
it won't work. That info is in the "system operation" section of the
install manual. For the 5804BD you have to set the house ID (*24)
and that should be about it.

What I don't seem to get is why the 5804BDs don't always respnd to the
arm, disarm etc; but just respond that the 'system is ready to arm'
voice message. Should I program them as local as well?
Thanks
