Ademco vista 20P entry delay 2 problem. arm stay/away works, arm instant does not

Hi, here is an odd one,
Normally I arm my alarm in either away or stay mode and have no
problems, all zones work as expected. The other day I decided to try
instant. When armed in instant mode, long after exit delay completed
so alarm is armed, opening some of my doors that are on entry delay 2
caused the 6139B keypad to say "Check 14 ..." and NO alarm sounded.
(where ... is "garage perimeter", "single garage door", "double garage
door" for 14, 17, and 18 respectively.) My alarm is wired with exit
delay 2 on zone 14 using a 4229 wired zone expander module and zone 17
using loop 1 of a 5816 wireless transmitter and zone 18 on loop 2 of
the same 5816 wireless transmitter. I tested it by testing all
combinations of arming in stay/away and faulting zones 14, 17, and 18
and all worked as expected. Then I tested it by arming it in instant
and 17 worked but 14 and 18 would cause the display to say "Check...".
After testing all that, on one of the tests I faulted 18 and keypad
said "Check..." and then I faulted 14 and the alarm sounded.

I hope that wasn't too verbose, this is the first time I've ever
posted to a newsgroup.

Its been a little while with a vista 20, but if I remember, the
expander has to be 8 zones, so if you would have the expander set on
zones 10-17 (8 zones), then 18+ for wireless zones. So your 2 wireless
zones have to start at zone 18 and above. Otherwise this would cause a
check.
