ACER Monitor won't work with a BUSH Set Top Box

I have an ACER model P221W LCD Monitor and a Bush DFTA10HD Set Top Box.

I use the ACER monitor with my computer via the VGA connection and I would also like to occasionally use it to display a TV picture from

the Bush Set Top Box.

The Set Top works with a CHEMEI LCD Monitor via the VGA connection but it will not work with the ACER monitor.

It also works with my TV via the VGA connection.

When I connect it to the ACER monitor via the VGA connection, the screen shows a message "Input signal not recognised" or words to that

effect.

The Bush also has a HDMI output and the ACER has a DVI input, so I connected them via a DVI cable & HDMI converter. But the same message

appeared on the screen.

Does anyone know why? I assume it is due to incompatible DDC data.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

The problem is that the output of the set top box is incompatible with the monitor.

It may be demanding a resolution the monitor can not display.

Your set top box may have settings to change the output to a (presumably) lower resolution.

Thanks Steve,
I believe I explored all options in both the STB & the ACER Monitor and could not find a combination the worked.

Perhaps I missed something, so I'll try again tomorrow.

However, when I connected the STB to the TV & the CHEMEI monitor, I did not have to change any settings - it just worked.

The same applied to the computer & the ACER - as far as I can remember.

TV stuff tends (these days at least) to default to widescreen formats, so 1360x768 might be the default for the STB.

Computers tend to default down to fairly low resolutions automatically.

I would be looking perhaps for settings on the STB for 4x3 display rather than 16x9. That may do the trick (maybe)
