Acer F701 Monitor won't hold sharp focus

After several months with no problem, this monitor now won't hold
sharp focus. Adjustment of the focus on the LOPT restores everything
to pin sharp focus, but after a few hours or days the focus has
drifted off again. Is there any cleaning or remedial action that can
be taken to solve this? The focus control is only accessible
internally making it a real bother to adjust!

Could be it need a New lopt. If you see a sticker on it with a number like:
19.xxxxxx post that number here.

OK, will post the number when I have access to the monitor again. But
I would expect a LOPT fault to either cause permanent loss of focus or
the loss to be time or thermally related. In my case it just
sometimes goes - and sometimes the monitor can be on for hours without
losing focus. There is a suspicion that it MIGHT be physically
related - I once tipped the screen up, when it was ok, for a better
view of the screen and it immediately lost focus.

Going back to my original question - can the focus controls be cleaned
in any way like a noisy pot?
