240v to 5v for wireless charging circuit

Hi All,

I am a complete electronics novice, so I hope you can be patient with me. Hopefully by the time I've finished my project I'll have something to share :)

I'm currently working on a design for a lamp that includes an integrated wireless charging transmitter in the base. The original plan was to use a braided 3 core cable for power supply to the lampholder electrics (its prettier...), but that creates a challenge...

The wireless charging module requires a 5v power input. What are your recommendations for integrating the 240v cable and the 5v circuit?

Thanks in advance,

James

Hi Ken,

Input current is 2amps. Space is a little flexible as I can change the base design to fit the requirement, but for arguments sake, lets say L: 120mm H: 30mm, W: 12mm - its pretty tight!

There are a lot of small 5v/2A switch mode power supply modules/PCBs out there off the shelf.
Google: 5V/2a SMPS modules
You will have to look around a little to find one close to your dimensions and input voltage.
I've also gutted (very carefully) wall warts to get small power supplies circuit boards. And they're usually free ...if you check you junk drawer or in your friands'
