12v automotive relay how do you find amp rating ?

How do you find the amp rating on a 12v relay ? I have several. Hella 12193614 omron 12177236 Siemens 12193604 &12193602? Thanks!

Usually you just Google the query and get the data sheet for the relay (or the range of relays) where all those details are listed.

This PDF generally applies to all Automotive simple cube relays and gives an idea of filament (resistive) or motor (inductive) load.

What I have learned over the yerars having similar issue is simple: Just write down the unit name, brand, etc. where the relay was picked from. That is of course - if it was used in some device when you found it.

Hello, this is my first post. Please be kind. Relay switches. I believe it is written on the SPDT relay switch. Usually 12 volts on car radios. One pole, or input, two outputs to an input connection.

Thanks for your time. I am new to this but I am learning how to use my tablet . I have finally finished my project and learned a lot from folks like you! have a blessed day

yes, the wrong amperage can burn up a relay, but the question here is..... If you know it is a 12v automotive relay, then why would you need to know the amperage? say the real good alternator puts out about 30 amps, but the circuitry in the auto doesn't allow it to get to the relay. Then your relay might only require a few amps to fire.
But there are very few auto manufacturers who would put a small relay in because it is possible for power surges, or mechanical errors that could allow high amps through.... so they usually use high amp relays(anyway they used to.... before you kids got their hands on a VOM and a DIP package) Only way to know, the specs of anything, is to ask the manufacturer.
