PCIM Europe Is Postponed Due to the Rapid Increase of COVID-19 Cases in Europe

The event organisers for PCIM Europe released an official statement last week, announcing that show would be cancelled due to “dynamic developments” in Europe related to the COVID-19 virus.

PCIM Europe joins a list comprised of most—if not seemingly all—of planned electrical manufacturing trade shows since the end of last year, including prominent and well-established shows like electronica China, embedded world, APEC and Mobile World Congress, who have been disrupted in some way by the COVID-19 disease. 

The decision to postpone the event until July 28-30, 2020 by show organisers was based on efforts to delay or inhibit the spread of what the CDC now refers to as a pandemic-level respiratory disease

The managing director of Mesago Messe, the organizing firm of the event, said that they have been continually assessing the situation and ultimately decided to, “act in the best interest of all parties involved with this postponement and that we can thus make a joint contribution to delaying the spread of COVID-19 in Europe”.

A Focus on Energy Storage and E-Mobility Trends

PCIM Europe was originally scheduled to take place on May 5-7 and for those who had planned on attending, were assured through the statement that the original event tickets would be valid for the new dates in July. The venue for the event, the Nuremberg Exhibition Center, would also remain the same. 

The defining topics that are expected to be discussed at this year’s show are energy storage and e-mobility; with exhibitions on trends related to both technologies put into practice in demonstrations. The event also focuses on current or trending topics in the fields of power electronics, intelligent motion, renewable energy, and energy management.
